I'm going to share my digital textile design knowledge in a series of workshops that show you how to take drawings and paintings from paper to textiles.
It's going to be super fun and I can't wait to see what you create. The workshops will be held in Kalamunda, in the beautiful Perth hills.
Each workshop costs $195, or you can do both for $350
Workshop 1: Prepare to Digitally Design
Saturday 27 July 2019, 9.30am - 12.30pm
In this half day workshop you will draw and paint motifs that will become the elements of your surface pattern design. You will learn how to scan images ready for importing into Photoshop or Illustrator. We will discuss different file formats and editing programs and find out exactly which one is right for you.
I'll show you how images are uploaded onto direct printing websites so that you can get your designs printed onto fabric (or just about anything really!!)
Workshop 2: Create Repeat Patterns for Digital Printing
Saturday 27 July 2019, 1.30pm - 4.30pm
The next half day workshop in the series...although you might just want to do this one again and again, it will be so much design fun.
You've got all your gorgeous drawings so now let's clean them up in Photoshop and put them into a repeat pattern.
Don't worry if you are a Photoshop beginner -
I'll give you all my tips to get started.
Once you've made your pattern I'll show you how to save it and help you upload your design to a print on demand service. You can see all the fabric swatch samples that I have already, so that you can get the best fabric for your next project.
Please note that for this workshop, you will need a laptop with Photoshop installed. Let me know if you are not able to provide your own and I will see what I can do. You can download a trial of Photoshop from the Adobe website, if you don't already have it.
Workshop 3: Advanced Design for Textiles - Mini Collections
Expression of Interest, Date to be confirmed.
You've got a handle on Photoshop basics and now you're ready to take it to the next level.
This half-day workshop is all about hero patterns and coordinates. Once you've got your mini collection, you will learn how to mock- up your designs so that you can visualise your final products. Bonus: I'll show you how I prepare my files to share on social media.
